Building sustainable recovery can be especially difficult for our peers facing housing instability because they are worried about finding safe shelter, food, and other basic necessities. CforR’s Peer Recovery Coaches and volunteers work with our peers to build individualized plans to achieve their full potential. Our peer recovery coaches also work to build up resources that they can tap into to help remove barriers to recovery for the people the work with on a regular basis.

We know that it’s hard to focus on your recovery if you’re not able to fulfill your basic needs, and we want to make sure that our coaches can help people overcome any barriers to recovery. Due to the rising costs of living in Austin, our coaches are reporting that they need more of these essential supplies for the people they are working with. We are asking for your help to fill up our supply closet with the essential items our peers can use to meet their basic needs.

By providing any of these items, you can help relieve some of the stress that our peers face daily, which allows them to focus on their well-being and recovery. We are collecting the following items:

  • Gallon zip lock baggies
  • Q-tips
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Soap
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Socks (adult sizes)
  • Lotion
  • Combs and brushes
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Razors
  • Shaving cream
  • Face wash
  • Sunscreen

You can drop off donations at our center: 4110 Guadalupe St. Building 635, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. Feel free to bring in individual items, or pack a few different things into gallon Ziploc baggies. If you have any questions, please email Erin, at erin.cooper@cforr.org.
