What made CforR so dramatically different, in my opinion, was that from the very beginning I never once felt like I was just another volunteer.

When I signed up to become a volunteer at Communities for Recovery, I was unsure of what to expect, however I did imagine it would include some cliché task such as moving dusty old boxes or filing back-logged folders.  However, Communities for Recovery offered so much more than cookie-cutter volunteer roles.

Immediately I started to notice that the volunteer program at Communities for Recovery was amazing.  It had such a positively charged atmosphere you could not help but want to be a part of the excitement.  What made CforR so dramatically different, in my opinion, was that from the very beginning I never once felt like I was just another volunteer.

From the director down to other volunteers I was welcomed with open arms, treated with respect, and included as team member whose opinion mattered. The amount of encouragement and support was unparalleled. With guidance and support volunteering helped me regain & rebuild my confidence, self-esteem, recovery tool kit and life skills to begin to help myself.
