I wanted to give back as other have given me in my time of need, as Communities for Recovery helped me, I wanted to help others.

What inspired me to volunteer is: I wanted to help other people who did not have resources or other means for recovery as I did.

I wanted to give back as other have given me in my time of need, as Communities for Recovery helped me, I wanted to help others.

I was early in recovery and 12 steps meeting were not satisfying my needs, I found that DRA support is what I needed. I was given an opportunity to volunteer in DRA meetings though Communities for Recovery.

I enjoyed it so much that I started co-facilitating other support groups that Communities for Recovery provided. More I was getting involved I was building bigger recovery and social network.

Volunteering made impact in my life. I became more insightful of what recovery is, I got to know others and their journey. I learned I am not alone. I have whole community of people going though same experiences and we have a common interest in helping others.

Volunteering has given me purpose; I live fulfilled life and I want to share that with others.

Thank you, Communities for Recovery, for acknowledging my work.

It is a great honor to be recognized on National level.
