Covid-19 & Our Community

Hello from everyone at Communities for Recovery!

I would like to start by saying I am grateful for the people of Austin. Everyone I have talked with this week has been focused on taking care of the community and striving to make things happen as fast as possible during this ever changing situation.

At Communities for Recovery we have worked to pull together our daily recovery support services in a video and telephone format. We appreciate your patience and we hope you will join us.

1) All of our peer recovery coaches have been contacting people by phone and text. In addition, we are training every coach on the process of completing video based communication. If you have a computer or phone, you will be able to hold a face to face with your assigned coach.

2) Starting Monday, March 23rd we will be offering All Recovery, Coffee Talk, Community Coaching and Community Check-In meetings by video and phone.

These meetings will be posted on our Facebook Page each morning and they are led by our staff and volunteers. We are excited and hope you will join us.

3) We have posted two new yoga videos lead by coaches Gloria and Paul on our Facebook page. We will be adding new ones every few days. We are also working on other groups such as Music in Recovery, Art of Recovery, Stay Out of Jail, and meditation. We will be adding links to our website for some existing community resources along with posting a few special videos on Facebook.

4) We will continue to have our main phone line answered from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday – Friday. Please call if you have a question or need to talk to a coach. The number is 512-758-7686.

On Wednesday of this week, we received notice that as a tenant on the Austin State Hospital campus we must remain closed until April 15, 2020. We will update you as more information is available.

We are happy to announce that we have rescheduled our 2020 Lifebuilder Luncheon for Wednesday, September 2, 2020. Please save the date!

Finally, we are open to new ideas on how we can stay connected as a recovery community. We’re working on a few fun online events that we will share with you soon. We would also love to hear your ideas. Please send your thoughts and ideas to info@cforr.org. Take care, Darrin

The general CforR phone will be answered during normal business hours and a coach will be available to talk with someone if needed. Thank you for your understanding. We will keep you updated on any addition changes.
