Slade Skaggs
Peer Recovery Coach Coordinator

My name is Slade Skaggs, I’m a Peer Recovery Support Specialist. I struggled with Opiate Use Disorder & Substance Use Disorder for 25-years – most of those years here in Austin. I have overdosed and I have been hospitalized more times than I can count. I have felt angry, scared, and hopeless. I haven’t known how to deal with my feelings and sometimes I haven’t had any feelings at all.

I have been in long-term recovery since July 3rd, 2016. I wanted to improve the quality of my life. What made a difference in my recovery was connecting with a Peer Recovery Coach & the Recovery Community as a whole. My coach helped me feel hopeful, set goals, and advocate for me.

I am a product of Peer Recovery Support Services & became a Coach in order to do for others what was so freely done for me!
